Help find and nurture tomorrow’s Paralympic stars this Christmas
Eli's Paralympic Dream
12-year-old Eli Kerr is a talented swimmer with a bright sporting future ahead of him. But he’s had to overcome enormous obstacles to succeed in the pool.
Eli was born with a condition called absent ulnar club hand. He has no elbow on his right arm and only two fingers on that hand. That’s means he’s had to spend his whole life figuring out his own way of doing the things he wants to do.
Para-sport has given Eli hope and the confidence to break through the barriers standing between him and his sporting dreams.
“Para-swimming has given me a can-do mindset and taught me that anything in life is possible. I just have to work a bit harder than everyone else to get there.”

Paralympics Australia provides emerging athletes like Eli with support and pathways to reach their potential.
Your donation today can help find and nurture the Aussie Paralympic stars of the future.
Para-athletes like Eli who live in regional areas face even greatest barriers to be able to perform at their best. Travelling large distances to train and compete can be a massive logistical and financial burden.
No one’s sporting potential should be limited by where they live. That’s why Paralympics Australia supports Pathway Academy initiatives across the country that bridge the gaps and connect talented athletes with coaching, high-performance opportunities and strength and conditioning support
Paralympics Australia also provides funding to help regional athletes cover the cost of things like travel and equipment.
"It’s a lot harder for us because most of the big meets are in Melbourne. Kids who live there only have to travel 40 minutes max. For us it’s a three-hour drive.”
Help inspire tomorrow’s Paralympic stars
Eli says that meeting one of his Paralympic heroes, swimmer Col Pearse, inspired him to forge his own Paralympic dreams.
But it also reminded him that Para-sport wasn’t just about winning medals and races.
"Col told me how important it was to keep enjoying my swimming,” Eli says. “That made me think about all the ways Para-sport has made my life better."
By helping talented Para-athletes like Eli reach their sporting potential, you’ll help share the life-changing gift of Para-sport with people for many years to come.
$75 could go towards the cost of classification for a Para-athlete like Eli.
$150 can help provide an aspiring Paralympian with the coaching and mentoring they need to perform at their best.
$300 can help make sure our Paralympic heroes can attend High Performance Camps at our purpose-built training camp facility in Melbourne.
Your Choice can help share the gift of sport with more Para-athletes.
