Para-athletes do the same work as able-bodied athletes. They deserve to be equal.

Para-athletes are the hardest working people you will ever meet.

They’re athletes first, but they’re disability advocates and sport ambassadors second and third. They inspire young athletes to achieve their dreams while training hard to achieve their own.

The gap between Para-athletes and able-bodied athletes is too wide.

We believe every person with disability deserves the same recognition and support as able-bodied athletes. We need to close the gap that divides us and create a fair playing field for all.

This means:

  • More funding for Para-sporting equipment such as tennis and rugby wheelchairs, seated throwing support and prosthetics
  • Para-sport needs accessible travel to be subsidised
  • We need more professional coaches to champion Para-sports and its athletes
  • Greater access to Para-sports at the community level
Para-athletes do the same work, and we demand to receive the same support and recognition for this.We must Close the Gap.

The road to becoming a Paralympian is long, difficult, and expensive.

Most Paralympians don’t receive an equal share of funding and need your support.

Para-sports aren’t always sponsored or endorsed like athletes in able-bodied sports.

Most Para-athletes can’t access coaches, training to be able to participate in a Para-sport.

Most Para-athletes don’t hear the same cheers, aren’t household names.

But why? Para-athletes should get the same level of support & recognition when they do the same amount of work to represent their country at the games.

Paralympics Australia does more than just get a team of Para-athletes to the Games every 4 years.

Paralympics Australia is a non-profit organisation that advocates for a more inclusive society for people living with disability. We believe that the best way to create positive change for people with disability, is to get them participating in sport.
