Equal access to sport for people with disability
We believe every person with disability, who wants to play sport, should be able to participate.
To create Fair Play for All, we need more support and funding to make sure that every Australian who wants to play sport, can. This means:
- Greater access to Para-sport at the community level
- More funding for Para-sport equipment such as tennis and rugby wheelchairs, seated throwing support and prosthetics
- Para-sport needs accessible travel to be subsidised
- We need more professional coaches to champion para-sports and its athletes
We demand Fair Play for All. People With Disability Want to Play Sport too!
Many potential Paralympians are not afforded the same opportunities to participate in sports as their able-bodied peers – and that is WRONG!
Every Australian should have equal access to play sport.
Paralympics Australia does more than just get a team of Para-athletes to the Games every 4 years.
Paralympics Australia is a non-profit organisation that advocates for a more inclusive society for people living with disability. We believe that the best way to create positive change for people with disability, is to get them participating in sport. We do this through sports and community programs that encourage young people with disability to discover and develop their talent.
We are change agents working to normalise disability.
A huge twenty percent (20%) of Australians have a disability. Because of their impairment, they face many more barriers than an able-bodied person. When it comes to playing sport and competing at a professional level – the challenges to success for a Para-athlete are even greater. That’s why we need to level the playing field and demand Fair Play for All!
