A gift like this is one of the most thoughtful and lasting legacies you can leave to help Paralympians now and into the future.

Whether your gift is large or small, it can be life changing for people with disabilities, as it can help send the Australian Team to the Paralympic Games, as well as help to identify and develop the next generation of Para-athletes on the Green and Gold runway.

Thank you for considering leaving a Gift in your Will, and showing our Aussie Para-athletes that you believe in them, and value their contribution in changing attitudes and creating a more inclusive world for future generations.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a bequest?

A bequest, also referred to as a Gift in a Will or a legacy donation, is a charitable donation specified in a Will or other estate plan. A Gift in your Will to Paralympics Australia can help us transform lives through Para sport and help us create a more inclusive Australia.

What is the difference between a bequest and a will?

A Will is a legal document which outlines the distribution of a person’s estate. A bequest is a specific gift or donation mentioned in the Will.

Why do I need a will?

A Will ensures your assets are distributed according to your wishes and allows you to choose who will manage your estate. It ensures your values, causes, and personal wishes are honoured. Overall, it provides clarity, security, and peace of mind for you and your loved ones.

How long does it take, and how much does it cost?

It depends on your personal situation and the complexity of your estate. If it’s right for you, you can have your Will written for free using our partner Gathered Here, an online Will-writing platform.

What types of gifts can be left in a Will?

  • Residuary gift – this is the most effective way to leave a gift in your Will to Paralympics Australia. This is the remainder of your estate after taking care of family and friends. It’s an effective way to make a lasting impact as it adjusts for inflation, maintaining its value over time.
  • Percentage gift – this involves leaving a nominated portion or fixed percentage of your estate to Paralympics Australia. Like residuary gifts, percentage gifts also keep up with inflation.
  • Pecuniary gift – This is a specific amount of money designated for Paralympics Australia.

There’s absolutely no obligation to include a gift to us in your Will. But we do hope that some people will consider this after loved ones have been provided for.

Do I need to tell you I’ve included Paralympics Australia in my Will?

This is entirely up to you. However, we’re very keen to show our gratitude to you and keep you informed about our work across the Paralympic Movement so we would love to know if you’ve decided to leave a lasting legacy through a Gift in your Will to Paralympics Australia.
